Saiyaara advance booking box office collection: Ahaan Panday’s debut film set for massive opening, likely to beat Kesari 2 and Jaat

Saiyaara advance booking box office collection: The Mohit Suri directorial starring two newcomers, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has sold almost 4 lakh tickets and is targetting an opening day haul of over Rs 20 crore.

Saiyaara advance booking box office collection: It would seem that Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s debut film is exceeding all expectations, as Saiyaara’s advance booking reports paint a glorious picture on release day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has already sold over 3.8 lakh tickets, ranging across 7850 shows. This brings the total advance sales revenue to Rs 9.39 crore, and after factoring in the money from the block seats, the number goes up to Rs 12.49 crore. If trends prevail, director Mohit Suri is looking at a successful opening day and weekend. The film, starring two entirely new actors, could make over Rs 20 crore on its first day, which is almost unheard of.

For comparison, Aamir Khan’s highly-anticipated Sitaare Zameen Par earned Rs 10.7 crore net on its opening day, while Kesari Chapter 2, starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan and Ahaan’s cousin Ananya Panday, collected Rs 7.75 crore India nett on its first day. Other films, such as Sunny Deol’s Jaat (9.5 cr) and Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 (19.25 cr), are also in the crosshairs of Saiyaara. Yash Raj Films has been putting in the work on the promotional side of things, trying to break the pattern of newcomers struggling with their first projects. Since the release of their title track featuring another set of newcomers, Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami, the makers have been relentless in promoting the album of the film, with the aforementioned track sitting at 49 million views on YouTube. However, neither of the two young actors has gone on press rounds, breaking a long-standing film industry trend.

Saiyaara currently has 7850 shows scheduled all across the country, with the most number of shows being in Maharashtra (170), followed closely by Uttar Pradesh (164) and New Delhi (133). There have been several instances this year where films have failed to perform in their opening weekends, and have ended up losing theatres. Varun Dhawan’s Baby John and Emraan Hashmi’s Ground Zero are the best examples of this phenomenon, but according to advance booking reports, it looks like Saiyaara will be able to achieve a successful opening weekend.

It’s also important to note that Ahaan has the unique chance of earning more on his debut than cousin Ananya, as her debut film, Student of the Year 2, collected Rs 12.06 crore on day one. Ananya’s film was backed by Karan Johar and Dharma Productions, and Ahaan’s is being backed by Yash Raj Studios, so the playing field is quite level for the two. The film’s longevity at the box office will rely heavily on the performance of Aneet and Ahaan, as they are still competing with holdover films such as Superman, Jurassic World Rebirth, and Rajkummar Rao’s Maalik, while also reportedly dealing with cuts imposed by the CBFC.
