Aneet Padda Politely Declines Selfie in First Public Appearance After Saiyaara Success; Fans Defend Newcomer Against Trolls
With Saiyaara soaring at the box office and winning praise from both critics and audiences, debutants Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday have become overnight sensations. The film’s roaring success has catapulted them into the spotlight, with viral videos showing packed theatres and constant media buzz. As a result, the newcomers have found themselves under increased paparazzi attention in Mumbai.
In one of her first public appearances since the film's release, Aneet Padda was spotted outside a salon in Mumbai. Dressed in casual blue denim and a matching shirt, she kept a low profile with a face mask. Visibly startled by the crowd of photographers awaiting her outside, the 22-year-old was swiftly escorted through the media frenzy.
However, a specific moment from the encounter caught netizens' attention — a fan approached her for a selfie, which she politely declined. This led to a wave of mixed reactions online. While a few criticized her for appearing “arrogant,” many others came to her defense, emphasizing that she’s still adjusting to fame.
One fan wrote on social media, “She’s not used to cameras and paparazzi, let’s give her time. Also, YRF has restricted them from media interactions.” Another commented, “She’s just starting out… not everyone is media trained like star kids. She might’ve been nervous.”
Saiyaara Breaks Records at the Box Office
Directed by Mohit Suri and backed by Yash Raj Films (YRF), Saiyaara has become a box office sensation, grossing over ₹153.25 crore within just six days. The romance drama has surpassed recent blockbusters like Sikandar, Kesari, and Jaat. Much of its success is attributed to strong word-of-mouth and social media endorsements by celebrities such as Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Ranveer Singh.
Why Aneet Was Cast in Saiyaara
In an earlier interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Mohit Suri explained why he cast Aneet in the lead role:
“I’m sorry if I don’t sound politically correct, but one thing that was very important was finding a 20–22-year-old girl who hadn’t undergone any cosmetic procedures. I wanted someone natural—and that’s what Aneet brought to the role.”
As the young actress navigates sudden fame, fans continue to support her, reminding critics that behind the spotlight is someone still getting used to it all.
